Most Hoosiers Stand with Us
Last week I mentioned an important new poll of over 1,000 Hoosier voters on several key issues that reveal a strong majority share the same values or views as AFA of Indiana supporters. I want to revisit that briefly as there were some results, I did not mention.
To recap from last week, these were the findings I mentioned:
• 65% of Hoosiers support legislation to protect girls’ sports from confused biological males.
• 53% oppose Governor Holcomb’s veto of such legislation. (I strongly suspect that given 65% support for the legislation, and similar opposition to trans swimmer Lia Thomas, at least 12% do not fully understand what the governor’s veto means.)
• 56% of Hoosiers would support Florida-style legislation prohibiting schools from teaching children under 3rd grade about sexual orientation or gender identity.
• 65% of Hoosiers oppose giving children under the age of 18 puberty-blocking drugs, cross-sex hormones, or physical sex-change surgeries.
Here are other key findings I didn’t mention last week:
• 57% of Hoosiers support legislation granting a right of legal redress to families of children harmed by sex inhibiting drugs and surgeries who regret their decision.
• 75% of Hoosiers oppose the NCAA’s decision to allow biological male swimmer Lia Thomas to compete on the University of Pennsylvania swim team.
• 79% of Hoosiers support stronger enforcement of laws preventing minors from having access to obscene materials. (This is what Senate Bill 17 and House Bill 1134 involved. They passed the Senate and House in two different bills, but neither was passed by both chambers.)
• 83% of Hoosiers support legislation requiring online age verification for minors to view pornographic sites. (Why this isn’t 100% is disturbing.)
• President Joe Biden’s approval rating is only 37% among Hoosiers. 61% of Hoosiers disapprove of the job he is doing, with 52% strongly disapproving.
If you think that you are alone or in a minority with your traditional values on key issues of the day, these poll results should be an encouragement to you. This too may be yet another affirmation. A new national poll finds that nearly 70% of Americans say they are less inclined now to give the Disney Corporation any money because of the company’s support of the homosexual and transgender agenda toward children.
Economic Recovery Paints Interesting Shades of Red and Blue
There is an interesting study compiled by the Republican National Committee an obviously partisan entity. However, the information they have compiled is so overwhelming that one must admit that they may have discovered a trend or coincidence.
Their analysis of the Labor Department’s employment and unemployment data finds that Republican-led states have continuously outperformed Democrat-led states coming out of the Covid shutdowns and fallout. For example, of the top ten states for jobs recovered, all were led by Republican-controlled state legislatures, and all but one had Republican governors. More broadly, 16 of the top 20 economically recovering states have Republican-controlled legislatures.
The four states with the lowest unemployment rates in March have Republican governors – Nebraska (2 percent), Utah (2 percent), Indiana (2.2 percent), and Montana (2.3 percent). In fact, out of the top 25 states with the lowest unemployment rates, 20 have Republican governors.
Additionally, 11 of the top 13 states — Utah, Idaho, Montana, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Arizona, Arkansas, South Dakota, and Indiana — are entirely led by Republicans and have more people working now than they had before the coronavirus pandemic started.
Indiana is at the tail end of that return to pre-pandemic employment list. We are just slightly ahead of where we were a before Covid began. Utah has recovered 154.8 percent of its jobs, Idaho 148 percent, Montana 125 percent, Texas 116.7 percent, Florida 112.2 percent, Georgia 112.1 percent, Tennessee 112 percent, Arizona 109.8 percent, Arkansas 109.6 percent, South Dakota 105.6 percent, and Indiana 100.9 percent.
Cast an Informed Ballot
Early voting has begun for the Indiana May 3rd Primary Election. Do you know where the candidates stand? Our free online voter guide is now available. We do not have the ability to cover local candidates, but iVoter Guide is a good place to start to see who shares your values.
In Their Own Words:
“When you become entitled to exercise the right of voting for public officers, let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers ‘just men who will rule in the fear of God.’ The preservation of a republican government depends on the faithful discharge of this duty.” – Noah Webster, 1832
