Janet Reed sentenced to probation for felony election fraud

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A local Democratic Party activist has been sentenced to probation for sending illegally pre-marked mailings to voters ahead of the 2020 primary elections.
Vanderburgh County Circuit Court Judge David Kiely ordered Janet Reed to serve 18 months of probation for one count of unauthorized absentee ballot, a level 6 felony, to which she pleaded guilty in May.
The illegal mailings were absentee ballot applications Reed sent with the Democratic Party pre-selected in the section where voters were supposed to choose whether to receive a ballot for the Democratic or Republican primary election.
